NEW YORK CITY — The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club presented a $10,000 contribution to the NY Fire Department's Widows and Children's fund, according to a press release from the club. The contribution came from club-member and sponsor donations.

Immediately after the September 11 tragedy, the club set up a fund for the affected families. The club also dedicated its final poker run of the year to the cause, and the event-winning teams contributed their prize money to the fund.

"The outpouring of support that we saw today at their offices from all over the world was something truly remarkable — I am proud that the NJPPC family was able to do our part," said Dave Patnaude, club president, after presenting the contribution at the NY Uniformed Fireman's Offices.

Incorporated in 1999, the New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club has approximately 250 members. It is a non-profit, members-run boating organization.
